AARP FLORIDA TO RELEASE RESULTS OF SURVEY ON KEY LEGISLATIVE ISSUES AFFECTING OLDER FLORIDIANS

At a news conference at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, AARP Florida State Director Jeff Johnson will release the results of a new AARP Florida survey of Sunshine State voters 50+ on legislative issues.

The survey will highlight issues important to older Floridians as the 2013 legislative session approaches.  Johnson also will announce AARP Florida’s legislative priorities for the 2013 session.

WHO:  AARP Florida State Director Jeff Johnson

WHAT:  New AARP Florida survey on legislative issues, AARP legislative priorities for 2013 session

WHEN:  11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4

WHERE:  News Conference Room, Florida Press Center, 336 E. College Ave., Tallahassee, FL

WHY IT’S IMPORTANT:  Florida voters age 50+ made up 40 percent of the electorate in 2012, and as a group, 70 percent of them turn out in every election.  Their voices command significant influence in the Florida Legislature.  The survey shows that though Florida legislative politics often remain highly polarized, voters often share a bipartisan consensus on a range of issues important to older people in Florida.
