Annapolis, MD, January 12, 2026 — AARP Maryland today announced its 2026 legislative priorities, under the strategic leadership of Advocacy Director Sara M. Westrick. The agenda reflects AARP Maryland’s unwavering commitment to its more than 800,000 members aged 50 and older across the state, along with their families.
The Colorado General Assembly gaveled into session at the state capitol on January 14 and is poised to address major issues facing Coloradans 50-plus.

AARP New York State Director Beth Finkel issued the following statement today on Governor Kathy Hochul’s 2026 State of the State Message:
The 2026 Kansas legislative session began on January 12, and AARP Kansas was on the ground, ready to advocate for issues important to older Kansans.
AARP Maine announced its 2026 legislative priorities, focusing on support for family caregivers, fair and affordable utility rates, and expanded home and community-based services for Mainers age 50-plus.
AARP Virginia volunteer advocates will urge lawmakers to act on the organization’s legislative agenda when the General Assembly convenes Jan. 14, including three priority issues: creating a Prescription Drug Affordability Board, establishing paid family leave and protecting consumers from cryptocurrency kiosk fraud.
