More than 200 attend free screening of box office hit Hidden Figures

Boise, ID – As part of its ongoing commitment to the community, the state office of AARP Idaho recently launched a new program designed to combine fun with purpose while spotlighting films and performances that resonate with the 50+ movie goer.

Movies for Grownups is an opportunity for AARP members, their guests and the public to enjoy complimentary screenings of Hollywood’s biggest hits. More than 200 guests packed a sold out theatre at Edwards Boise Stadium 21 to watch Hidden Figures. The incredible story of three brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.

“We are pleased to offer this valuable program in the Treasure Valley,” said Lupe Wissel, state director of AARP Idaho. “Isolation, especially among older adults, is a particularly acute problem this time of year.”

Movies for Grownups allows people the opportunity to enjoy quality movies at national theatres free of charge.

“This is a fun and engaging event that gets people out of the house and lets them see great movies in a fun and social environment,” said Wissel. “Our volunteers really enjoy this level of engagement and we look forward to hosting our next Movies for Grownups very soon.”
