Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with us!

We’re celebrating Hispanic Heritage month from September 15 to October 15, honoring the contributions and perseverance of Latino and Hispanic cultures. Join the festivities by participating in our virtual events, including a museum tour, concert (in-person), virtual conversations about health and empowerment, a cooking demonstration, and more!  

Visit us on Facebook as we unveil weekly videos highlighting community leaders who’ve built on perseverance and made immense contributions to communities impacted by the pandemic. Virtual Tour of LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes Museum – Wednesday, September 15 at 12 pm

We’re kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with a virtual tour of the LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes museum! As part of the tour, we'll also talk with the museum's CEO, John Echeveste. Register HERE.

Grand Performances Concert with Boogaloo Assassins, September 17 at 6 pm
AARP is sponsoring a Grand Performances summer concert featuring Boogaloo Assassins. The Los Angeles native group will play funky horns and soulful music. This concert is in-person and takes place at 350 South Grand, Los Angeles CA 90017. Click HERE for more information.*

Find Support in your Caregiving Journey – Tuesday, September 21 at 7 pm Are you or do you know a family caregiver? History of Chicano Park – Thursday, September 30 at 12 pm
Join us to learn about Chicano Park in San Diego and the stories behind its iconic murals. University of San Diego Professor Alberto López will virtually share the history of the park in a way that honors the voices of its past and current residents. Register HERE.

HOPE, Latina Empowerment Day – Friday, October 8 at 9 am AARP and Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) are hosting a Latina Empowerment Day, a virtual workshop to strengthen community leadership, advocacy strategies, and financial empowerment. Learn more HERE.*

Latinos in the American Revolution - Thursday, October 14 at 4 pm
Join us for a conversation with UCLA Professor David Hayes-Bautista about the key roles that Latinos played during the American Revolution, the path of independence from the British Crown.  Register HERE.  

Virtual Cooking Demonstration with Chef Maite Gomez-Rejon – Friday, October 15 at 4 pm
Discover the rich and complex history of maize (corn), the life force of the Americas, with Chef Maite Gomez-Rejon during an interactive cooking demonstration.  You’ll learn how to prepare memelas with black beans, mushrooms and zucchini. Register HERE.
