Celebrate Black History Month!

AARP in St. Louis celebrates Black History Month

A tribute to Sidney Poitier will be presented during the 2nd Annual Classic Black Film Festival in St. Louis sponsored by AARP. Eight of Poitier’s films will be shown – two each Thursday evening in February – at the St. Louis Cinemas Galleria-6 in the Saint Louis Galleria in Richmond Heights. (The cinema is located in the Atrium Dining Court of the Galleria Mall).

Each movie is FREE for AARP members when they show their AARP membership card at the door. Everyone who attends will have the opportunity to learn more about what AARP is doing in St. Louis for members, the 50+ crowd and their families! Movie-goers will also receive a special treat from AARP in St. Louis!

You don’t want to miss out on viewing film classics starring one of America’s iconic actors! Here’s the schedule:

February 6:   Lilies of the Field – 6 p.m.             Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner – 8 p.m.

February 13: To Sir, With Love – 6 p.m.            In the Heat of the Night – 8 p.m.

February 20: The Defiant Ones – 6 p.m.           A Patch of Blue – 8 p.m.

February 27: A Piece of the Action – 6 p.m.      Let’s Do It Again – 8 p.m.

A special “Social Happy Hour” will be held from 4-6 p.m. prior to the showing of the first movie, and movie-goers will receive a special treat from AARP. Don’t forget to stop by the AARP table before show times to learn more about AARP in St. Louis.
