2016 Bernie Valdez Awards

The Colorado Latino Leadership, Advocacy and Research Organization (CLLARO) is celebrating its 52nd anniversary during the annual Bernie Valdez Awards luncheon.

The 2016 Bernie Valdez Awards Luncheon will be held Friday Sept. 23, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Mile High Station, 2027 West Lower Colfax Ave. in Denver. The theme for this year’s luncheon is “Las Raices de Nuestras Contribuciones.”

As one of the sponsors for this event, AARP Colorado staff and volunteers congratulate the following awardees, who will be honored at the luncheon:

  • Arturo R. Jimenez, the Lena Archuleta Education Service Award
  • Mannie Rodriguez, the Sheldon Steinhauser Community Service Award
  • Senator Leroy Garcia, the Roger Cisneros Public Service Award
  • Ken Salazar, the Federico Pena Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Honorary Rosemary Rodriguez, the Polly Baca Social Justice Award
  • Tommy Espinoza, the CLLARO Alianza Award
  • Miller Coors, the CLLARO Alianza Award

According to CCLARO, formerly the Latin American Research and Service Agency (LARASA), “these awardees are members of our community who share the vision and mission of CLLARO and have demonstrated a sincere devotion to the improvement of the Latino community.”

Approximately 350 individuals from small businesses, government agencies, civic and community organizations, as well as sister nonprofits are expected to attend the luncheon.
