el movimiento image 5 (2)

Join AARP and Su Teatro for an evening of Chicano theater followed by a discussion of the role Chicano theater plays in our sociopolitical landscape.

Chicano Teatro: Stereotypes, Icons and other Contradictions, sponsored by AARP Colorado, will be Nov. 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the History Colorado Center, 1200 Broadway, Denver, CO 80203.

Su Teatro, Denver's nationally acclaimed theatre company will present Luis Valdez' "Los Vendidos" as well as "I Think I'm Turning Mexican" by Tony Garcia. As Su Teatro's artistic director/playwright, Garcia will host the evening of performance and discussion, examining the role of Chicano Theatre as a political and social tool for criticism and community engagement.

The event is part of the overall El Movimiento: Looking Back, Looking Forward, which is a series of community dialogues sponsored by AARP and the History Colorado Museum. The cost for museum members is $4, nonmembers pay $5. AARP members pay $3. Tickets can be purchased by calling 303-866-2394 or at the door. Please remember to bring your AARP membership card to receive the discount.
