AARP Delaware presented a sponsorship of $10,000 to the Food Bank of Delaware in celebration of AARP's National Day of Service. AARP has been a longtime advocate for combating hunger through numerous initiatives. Nationwide, AARP state offices chose a service project to honor the spirit of service and remembrance by participating in the National Day of Service.

A new AARP survey, released in conjunction with Social Security’s 90th anniversary, confirms that Americans highly value Social Security, and even more so than five years ago. The vast majority of Americans – 95% of Republicans, 98% of Democrats, and 93% of Independents – consider Social Security vital to the financial security of all Americans, and 67% believe it is even more important for retirees than it was five years ago.
With the close of the 151st General Assembly on June 30th, AARP is celebrating several big wins that will improve the lives of Delawareans 50+. Our Advocacy Team of volunteers worked tirelessly to help make it all happen!
Delaware voters will nominate candidates for state and federal offices on primary day, Tuesday, Sept. 13. AARP Delaware urges all eligible First Staters to vote and to be aware that because of redistricting, changed state legislative lines may affect which candidates appear on their ballots.
AARP Delaware announced that four Delaware non-profit and/or governmental agencies will receive AARP Community Challenge grants – part of the largest group of grantees to date with $3.4 million awarded among 260 organizations nationwide. Grantees will implement quick-action projects that help communities become more livable in the long-term by improving public places; transportation; housing; diversity, equity and inclusion; digital access; and civic engagement, with an emphasis on the needs of adults age 50 and over.
The official Atlantic hurricane season runs from June first to November 30th each year, with August through October being the peak months. While hurricanes bring rain and wind, there is also the potential for power outages, tornadoes, and flooding.

Cycling improves fitness and is a great way to get to a destination for those who don’t want to drive. AARP Delaware is teaming up with Bike Delaware to encourage First Staters to get on their bikes by offering a series of cycling events this summer.
Older workers give valuable experience in the workplace, and this bill would make it easier for them to find and keep a job
