Con artists have latched on to gift cards as a convenient, untraceable form of payment in their scams. That’s why AARP Delaware supported a new law, which was sponsored by State Representative Larry Lambert, requiring retailers selling third-party gift cards to post signage alerting customers to protect themselves from gift card scams and telling them how to report it. The bill is aligned with AARP’s efforts to prevent fraud through its Fraud Watch Network, and had AARP Delaware's full support as it sailed through the Legislature and passed unanimously.

AARP Delaware State Director Lucretia Young will host Sussex County Register of Wills Gregory Fuller for a Telephone Town Hall on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 12 noon to discuss estate planning and wills.
Delaware’s Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long and Public Health Director Dr. Karyl Rattay will join AARP Delaware State Director Lucretia Young to host a Telephone Town Hall on Friday, November 19 at 1 pm. Listeners can hear from Hall-Long and Rattay to get an update on COVID-19 and up-to-the-minute information on vaccines and booster shots.

Laurie Jacobs is a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women – Delaware Chapter and the Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League Young Professionals. She is a self-described passionate community servant who enjoys volunteering and making a difference in her community. She describes her strengths as advocacy, community organizing, and leadership. Combining her passion of public service with her professional career, Laurie currently works in nonprofit communications and marketing, where she can explore her interest in economic empowerment, civic engagement. AARP enjoys working with our younger volunteers to bridge the generations.

AARP Launches New Tool to Help Delaware’s Veterans Access Health Care

AARP makes our members voices heard during this time, as we support bills and laws that make life better for people age 50 and over. 2021 was a year filled with wins for AARP, its members and friends. AARP has launched a full-scale campaign, including a $4 million ad buy, pushing back on false claims from the pharmaceutical industry that reforms would limit Americans’ access to medicines. AARP has called for fair drug prices for years and is urging Congress to pass legislation that would allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices, put a cap on out-of-pocket costs that older adults pay for their prescription drugs and impose penalties on drug companies that raise prices faster than the rate of inflation.
