As of November 1, 2025, millions of Americans—including many older adults—may not receive their monthly food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. Two new bills that passed the legislature in June of 2021 fit right in with AARP’s mission of ensuring Delawareans have more choice as to how they want to age. The bills give more authority to Advanced Practice Nurses (APRN’s) so they can offer more immediate care to those who need it.
