3 Communities Earn Challenge Grants

Three AARP Community Challenge grants totaling $29,000 aim to make communities more age-friendly.

Grants are going to Jacksonville’s Springfield Preservation and Revitalization Council, for a bike- and wheelchair-maintenance station; to the Urban Health Partnership/Miami-Dade Age-Friendly Initiative, to add benches near trees at transit stops; and to Keys to Peace in Tavernier, for an intergenerational garden at a senior center.

The garden will increase access to healthful foods and bring adults and children together to plant and harvest vegetables and flowers.
