AARP Eye Center
Jacksonville, Fla. -- AARP is offering an innovative new approach to helping people 50+ find trusted tips and tactics to deal with the life choices facing everyone age 50+ -- and it's getting its start in Jacksonville.
It's called AARP Jacksonville's Boomer Academy series. Designed to help Jacksonville residents age 50-67 navigate the choices facing everyone age 50+, Boomer Academy bring together AARP members or anyone who wants to learn about an important issue with thought leaders who can give you information to help you sort through life choices. The key is that the leaders presenting information aren't there to sell you a specific product or service -- they're knowledgeable guides who want to offer accurate information. Boomer Academy events in 2014 offer information on important life matters that you are faced with.
Jacksonville residents are giving these events an enthusiastic reception. A Sept. 27 Boomer Academy event was filled to capacity just a few days after registrations were opened. At that event, AARP Jacksonville will conduct "classes" for the next Boomer Academy, with sessions on:
- Medicare 101 - Learn more about the health-coverage benefits you earned, when you should apply and how it works.
- Brain Health - Keep your mental edge sharp with tips from our Brain Health segment.
- Retirement Checklist – Have you given your retirement finances a "tune-up" lately? This "class" gives you key tips to fine-tune your preparations for retirement.
- Caregiving Tech – New technology is poised to make a big difference in the lives of family caregivers. Learn more from an experienced Jacksonville leader in this area.
Boomer Academy events are free (though registration is required) and light refreshments will be provided. While the Sept. 27 Boomer Academy event has reached capacity and no new registrations are being accepted, AARP Jacksonville plans future Boomer Academy events that will help bring you key information from trusted thought leaders on issues important to you.
