AARP Florida announces 2026 legislative priorities

Advocating for what is important to our members and giving you a voice at the state and federal levels is a priority for AARP Minnesota. Your voice matters. We work with local organizations and town and city officials on making our communities more livable and greater places to age with dignity and purpose.

Even as some of you are hearing the last notes of the song “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” we at AARP Florida are about to embark on “The Busiest Time of the Year”, the Florida legislative session. Advocacy is a core part of AARP’s mission, and at the state level, the legislative session is a rich if frenetic opportunity to advocate on a wide range of issues on behalf of Floridians ages 50 and over.

On September 12, 2025, South Florida came together for an evening of celebration, recognition, and gratitude as La Nueva 88.3FM hosted its Premios La Nueva Gala at the Hilton Miami Airport Blue Lagoon. The fight against scams and fraud targeting older Americans took center stage in Miami-Dade County this week, as Jeff Johnson, State Director for AARP Florida, testified before the Senator Rick Scott and the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging during a field hearing focused on protecting seniors from financial exploitation.
