The elections are coming up. Do you know where your legislator stands on issues affecting Floridians age 50 and older?
AARP has published its fifth annual Florida Legislative Voting Record, which documents state lawmakers’ votes on key issues for the 50-plus population. During the 2016 legislative session, such issues included long-term care, telehealth and guardianship proceedings.
Because important decisions sometimes happen early in the legislative process, the record tracks committee actions as well as final votes in both the House and Senate. AARP does not endorse candidates, but encourages its members to stay informed on how elected officials vote on matters critical to people 50 and older.
Exit polls in the 2012 general election showed a majority of voters (51 percent) were 50-plus. To read the report, go to aarp.org/fl.
