As spring unfolds, AARP Florida remains actively engaged in a fast-moving legislative session— advocating for policies that protect and uplift older adults across the state.

April is National Volunteer Month, and we are seeing our advocacy volunteers in action with their work at Florida’s Capitol. If you’re interested in volunteering, now is the perfect time to give back to your community. Whether you’re passionate about advocacy, education or helping create better communities for people 50+, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Explore the volunteer opportunities AARP Florida has to offer here.

In addition to the advocacy work we are doing in Tallahassee, we’re shining a spotlight and raising awareness on fraud. Scammers constantly evolve their tactics, but we’re here to help you stay one step ahead. Visit the AARP Florida Fraud Resource Center for the latest education, resources and updates to keep yourself protected. Need more assistance? Call the free AARP Fraud Helpline at 877-908-3360 for expert guidance on what to do next and how to avoid scams in the future. The AARP Fraud Helpline is available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.

In other news, don’t forget Tax Day is fast approaching on Tuesday, April 15! If you still need assistance, AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides free tax help to anyone, with a focus on taxpayers over 50 and those with low to moderate income. As the nation's largest free tax assistance and preparation service, Tax-Aide operates until mid-April, with volunteers available at more than 3,600 locations nationwide. You can find them in libraries, malls, banks, and community centers across all 50 states. Use the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide Service Locator Tool to find a site near you.

Stay safe, stay engaged and thank you for being a part of AARP Florida!
