The Herbert R. Collins’ Virginiana Collection will have a Public Opening at the Caroline County Library ( http://www.carolinelibrary.org) in Bowling Green on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 12:00 pm to 4 pm.
This vast collection of Caroline County and Virginia history and genealogy includes approximately 3,000 volumes as well as manuscripts, vertical files of family histories, census records, photographs, maps and other materials.
Caroline County native Collins was the curator-in-charge of Political History at the Smithsonian Institution and is a nationally recognized expert in genealogy. He will be on hand on September 24 to talk about building this one-of-a-kind collection and to answer questions about what it contained in it.
