Big Rivers Electric Corporation says it needs higher rates: Tell the Public Service Commission – What You Need!
Next week in Henderson, Kentucky’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is holding its first public meeting on another rate increase request from Big Rivers Electric Corporation. Some 112,000 electric customers across 26 west Kentucky counties could face a spike in their electrict bills if Big Rivers Electric gets its way.
What the PSC hears at that meeting could make big changes in your electric rates. If you're concerned about the steep cost of utilities now, you need to tell Big Rivers Electric and the PSC what you need in 2014.
Big Rivers Electric is seeking increase its annual revenue by $70.4 million. Big Rivers estimates its rate changes will increase the average monthly residential bills by about $25 or $30 per month.
The public hearing process is your opportunity to make your voice heard and tell the Public Service Commission what you think about the 21.5% rate increase from Big Rivers Corporation.
“Utility companies should only be able to charge what is fair and reasonable, but not a penny more. That's why AARP Kentucky is advocating for Kentuckians to make certain consumers can keep more of the money they've earned,” State President Jim Kimbrough.
