Need High Speed Internet? Check Out the Affordable Connectivity Program

yellow wifi.jpg

Access to high speed internet is a necessity, especially in these challenging times. Mainers need it to stay connected to family members, friends, health care providers, work and so much more.

That’s why AARP fought for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), which provides long-term assistance for Maine residents who are struggling to afford the high-speed internet services they need.

The ACP provides eligible Mainers a discount of up to $30 per month for high speed internet. For those living on Tribal lands, the monthly household benefit is $75 per month. It also includes a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, desktop computer or tablet purchased through a participating provider.

As Maine families continue to deal with inflation and other post-pandemic economic challenges, it is important that everyone take a close look at the ACP benefit, because many eligible families have still not enrolled. As of July 31, 2023, only 37% of eligible Mainers have enrolled the program.

Mainers can apply for the Affordable Connectivity Program now and start saving on their monthly internet bills. Check below for useful resources to help you, or someone you know, get started.
