AARP Eye Center
To our friends, partners and members of our AARP community,
As many of you know, we recently lost a tireless advocate and dear friend to the state of Maine: Rich Livingston. Rich served as a volunteer with AARP Maine for many years including as our Volunteer State President, and was the driving force behind many of our initiatives during his tenure.
Please join us as we remember an extraordinary person who will be greatly missed.

"Rich was the AARP Maine Volunteer State President and welcomed me as a volunteer in 2015. He was at every state and many local meetings that I attended sharing his knowledge, wisdom, encouragement, experience, kindheartedness and friendship. He was tireless in advocating for the 50+ population and their families. He made a difference. We were very lucky to have him volunteering with us for as long as we did. He will be missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him."

"My favorite memories of Rich are about he and Laura. Watching their relationship bloom when they were in Connecticut was a real treat. I would run into them here and there in Manchester – our shared town – out enjoying a restaurant. They were happy... happy enough to move/move back to Maine! Rich was there for Laura through good and bad times and I am so glad they had each other. My sympathies go out to Laura, Rich’s family and the AARP Maine family."

"What a mensch! Such a delightfully engaging, thoughtful, kind person - with absolute laser-like focus and dedication to AARP's mission. When Rich spoke, you listened. He did a lot of good and I'm sure I only know a fraction of it. My thoughts are with his loved ones and the AARP family."

"I absolutely loved working with Rich. He was instrumental in moving many of our advocacy initiatives forward and he was a superb communicator. I also had the opportunity to work with him on scam prevention presentations which helped us forge ahead with our work to help Mainers stay safe from these crimes. He was kind and had a great sense of humor, too. A tremendous loss to our AARP family and to the state of Maine."

"I was so sorry to hear that Rich had passed and my sincere condolences goes out to his family. During my time with AARP I worked with some amazing people. Looking back, there were a few that really shine bright in my memories and Rich is at the top. He was so genuine and always willing to help in anyway. I remember anytime he was in the office for anything, he would always make it a point to stop in my office for a chat just to say hello and check in to see if there was anything he could do to help with any of my projects. I appreciated all of the wisdom and knowledge Rich shared with me. He wasn’t one to sugarcoat anything, but always made his point with much care and respect. I’m so thankful I had the great fortune to know and work with him. Rich will truly be missed."
