Swing into Social Security
Join us for a delightful celebration as we commemorate the 90th anniversary of Social Security with a lively swing dance lesson and community party. Ninety years ago, our country made a promise—to provide hardworking Americans with a way to earn a foundation for financial security in retirement. This year, AARP is proudly celebrating Social Security’s legacy—while fighting to protect and strengthen it for older Americans today and for our kids and grandkids tomorrow. We invite you and your family to these fun, free community events to celebrate with us and raise awareness about the importance of Social Security.
Event Highlights:
- Swing Dance Lessons: Get ready to swing the day away with fun and energetic dance lessons suitable for all skill levels. Whether you're a seasoned dancer or a complete beginner, our instructors will have you moving and grooving in no time!
- Sweet Treats: Cool off with a complimentary ice cream cone at our Portland event or bite into some birthday cake at our Brewer event.
- Music: Dance to the tunes of a fantastic DJ playing all your favorite swing hits.
- Community Celebration: Connect with friends, family, and neighbors as we celebrate this significant milestone.

Brewer

Indoor venue. We will have some light refreshments including free water and birthday cake for participants to celebrate with us!
Portland
- Thursday August 14, 4:00PM to 6:00 PM
- Congress Square Park (right across the street from the Portland Museum of Art on Congress and High Streets)
The Swing Dance lesson will be held from 4:15-4:45PM followed by dancing. A complementary ice cream from the Treat Truck
