Cox has done and seen it all. Tough but compassionate gun-toting court officer, mom to two daughters, world traveler, chorale singer, expert seamstress, octogenarian zip-liner, integration trailblazer, theater usher in her spare time, longest serving AARP volunteer, niece to one of Detroit’s most celebrated figures... and that only touches on a handful of the highlights.
Tax-Aide offers free in-person and online tax preparation and assistance to low- and moderate-income taxpayers in Michigan and nationwide. Individuals interested in volunteering should apply by September 30th for the 2021 Tax Season. 
The Stephen J. Gools Award for Social Change was presented to Northpointe Community Church of DeWitt for erasing medical debts for thousands of people. The Andrus Award went to a Grand Blanc couple who stepped in and saved a Flint food distribution house.
AARP is looking for Tax-Aide volunteers to help more than 65,000 Michigan residents prepare and file their taxes in February through April of 2020.

Prestigious award recognizes exemplary community service
A hundred AARP Michigan volunteers gathered at AARP College/Shining Star Gala in Ypsilanti April 18-19 for a unique learning and networking opportunity, along with some fun and entertainment.
