(Ridgeland, MS) – Mississippi ranks 48 th overall when it comes to meeting the long-term care needs of older residents and people with disabilities, and AARP warns much more must be done, at an accelerated pace, to meet changing demographic demands. Despite the ranking, Mississippi has seen growth in key areas. Those areas are:
AARP Mississippi is presenting a free Caregiving Webinar on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 7 p.m. You can participate in this live, interactive event from the comfort of your home or office. Participants will receive tips and resources on starting a caregiving conversation, forming a team, making a plan, finding support and caring for themselves as they continue to care for others.
Almost 90 percent of Americans 65 and older want to stay in their home as they age, but Mississippi lags behind 35 states and the District of Columbia in using Medicaid funds to help residents achieve that goal.
