(Ridgeland, MS) — The city of Gulfport has won the AARP Community Challenge, which aims to create change and improve quality of life at the community level. Gulfport won for its proposal to develop a Bark Park. Each winning project throughout the nation was partially or fully funded through the AARP Community Challenge grant and is set to be completed by November 1, 2017.
AARP Mississippi is inviting all veterans in the area to attend the AARP Veterans Town Hall on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The free event will be held at the Richland Community Center, 410 East Harper St. in Richland, MS. Veterans may bring one guest. Lunch will be served.

(Jackson, MS) - As a part of Operation: Stop Scams, AARP Mississippi is presenting a free shredding event on Friday, April 28, 2017, from noon to 3:00 p.m. at the United Artist Parkway Theater parking lot. The theater is located on 1075 Parkway Blvd. in Flowood. Shredding services are open to the public. Representative Mark Baker will speak promptly at noon on methods Mississippians can utilize to defend themselves against fraud.
