Marc Boyd is the new volunteer state president for AARP New Hampshire.

Boyd will work in collaboration with AARP New Hampshire State Director Todd Fahey to achieve AARP’s vision, mission and strategic priorities in the Granite State. He will also serve as chairman of the AARP New Hampshire Executive Council.

The Executive Council, in partnership with Fahey and staff, develops the framework for the state’s strategic plan and supports the development and delivery of AARP New Hampshire’s community outreach programs, advocacy and grassroots activities. AARP New Hampshire has nearly 230,000 members across the Granite State.

“It is an honor to be selected State President of an organization that is universally recognized as the leader in protecting the rights of the 50-plus population and their families,” said Boyd. “I am excited to work with talented and experienced staff and volunteers and look forward to connecting with AARP members, community partners, elder advocates and policy leaders to affect social change.”

Seen as an educational innovator and reformer, Boyd spent nearly four decades in education and was an elementary school principal in Hooksett, Hopkinton and Goffstown. In 2004, he was recognized as the New Hampshire Elementary School Principal of the Year and National Distinguished Elementary School Principal. He also served as President of the New Hampshire Association of School Principals. Twice.

For the past six years, Boyd has represented the New Hampshire Association of School Principals on the State Department of Education Home Education Advisory Council. His love of teaching kept bringing him back to the classroom as an evening instructor at Southern New Hampshire University and Notre Dame College.

But his talents and passion go far beyond the classroom. Boyd can be seen at Bow High School where he serves as the “Voice of the Falcons” high school female varsity basketball team and at New Hampshire Special Olympics. He is very active with AARP New Hampshire, where his roles are diverse: fraud fighter, volunteer recruitment and recognition, elections, and grassroots organizing. And he stops shaving in early July in order to be Jolly Old St. Nick during the holiday season!

Marc earned an ABA from Cape Cod Community College, BBS from New Hampshire University and MEd from Plymouth State College. A resident of Bow, Marc and his wife Linda – an elementary school principal in Londonderry – have four children and five grandchildren scattered across the country.

Boyd replaces Dick Chevrefils, who served as State President from 2013 to 2015 and was promoted to Regional Volunteer Director in January 2016.
