AARP NH is proud to honor Vicki Laforet with the 2025 Andrus Award for Community Service, recognizing her extraordinary dedication to improving the lives of older adults through volunteerism, leadership, and innovation.

For over a decade, Vicki has been a driving force behind the success of the Tax-Aide program in New Hampshire and beyond. While most volunteers focus on tax counseling, Vicki has embraced every facet of the program—serving as Technology Coordinator, Training Coordinator, and State Administrative Assistant. Her efforts have ensured that volunteers meet IRS standards and that the infrastructure supporting tax preparation is efficient and effective.

Vicki’s impact extends nationally, where she serves on committees to improve Tax-Aide processes and leads the national user group for Administrative Specialists.

Her work directly supports AARP’s mission by serving low-income older adults, helping them access vital tax and property rebate services. Her compassion and commitment have inspired countless volunteers, including mentoring the current NH State Coordinator and stepping in to lead Vermont’s Tax-Aide program while continuing her NH duties.

When leadership gaps emerged, Vicki stepped up—taking on the Vermont State Coordinator role while continuing her NH duties and even filling in as District Coordinator in the North Country. Her unwavering commitment ensures that no community is left without access to vital services.

Vicki’s mentorship and recruitment efforts have inspired new volunteers and strengthened the program’s future. Her compassion, adaptability, and tireless work ethic embody the spirit of the Andrus Award and AARP’s mission to empower people to choose how they live as they age.

Reflecting on her work, Vicki shared, “We do so many little things. I’m most proud of the volunteers in NH and their dedication and commitment to helping out taxpayers.” Her humility and focus on the collective effort speak volumes about the kind of leader she is.

We are honored to recognize Vicki as a true champion for older adults and a beacon of service in our community.
