An Invitation to NH’s Retired Educators

Are YOU a retired Educator (1).png

Welcome to the New Hampshire Retired Educators Association (NHREA) — your community of support, advocacy, and connection for life after the classroom.

What Is NHREA?
Founded in 1952, NHREA serves all retired school personnel — teachers, nurses, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, ESPs, custodians, administrators, and more. We’re proud to be the state affiliate of the National Retired Teachers Association (NRTA), which itself is part of AARP.

Did you know? NRTA was founded in 1947 by Ethel Percy Andrus to address the financial and healthcare needs of educators in retirement — and it became the foundation of AARP.

Why Join NHREA?
NHREA is dedicated to retired individuals age 50 and above. Unlike NEA-NH, which supports current educators, NHREA focuses exclusively on retirement issues, including:

  • Social Security protections
  • Medicare and prescription drug affordability
  • Fraud prevention and senior safety
  • Caregiving and housing needs

We are proudly nonpartisan. Neither NHREA nor AARP endorse political candidates or maintain PACs. We simply keep a vigilant eye on legislation impacting retired communities.

Member Benefits
As part of NHREA, you’ll enjoy:

  •  Advocacy for secure and improved retirement benefits
  •  Collaboration with retirement groups across New Hampshire
  •  Access to timely and relevant updates for retirees
  •  Opportunities to participate in local NHREA chapters
  •  Biannual newsletters, website updates, and a vibrant Facebook community
  • Liaisons with NEA-NH, AFT, AARP-NH & NH Retirement Security Coalition

Attend Our Annual Meeting
Our Annual Meeting will be held October 7, 2025 at the Audubon Society (84 Silk Farm Road) in Concord, NH. Details will be sent to members this summer — it’s a great chance to meet others, learn something new, and get involved!
