Getting Outdoors with New Hampshire Audubon

It’s been a long New Hampshire winter and it’s time to get outside and have some fun!  AARP is offering four different outdoor activities in collaboration with the Massabesic Audubon Center.  Here’s what’s on tap:

Building Your Backyard Habitat

10:00 to 11:30 am
Massabesic Audubon Center; 26 Audubon Way; Auburn, NH

No matter where you live, you can create a garden that is beneficial to wildlife.  Get help with garden design and learn how to provide food and cover for native species.  Leave with a to-do list that has your critters saying thank you.  Registration is required by calling 603 668 2045.  Price for AARP members and a guest is $10 per person.

Bird Walk
Saturday, May 16, 2015
9:00 to 11:00 am
Massabesic Audubon Center; 26 Audubon Way; Auburn, NH

Join an experienced naturalist for a walk through the fields and woods to look and listen for the many species of birds that visit this sanctuary.  Trails are moderate with easy terrain.  Binoculars are recommended; you can even sign out a pair at the front desk.  Registration is required by calling 603 668 2045.  Price for AARP members and a guest is $5 per person.

Kayaking on Lake Massabesic

10:00 to 12:00 noon
Claire’s Landing; Route 121; Auburn, NH

Bring your own boat and join us for a paddle on Lake Massabesic.  Learn about the ecology of the lake and a bit of history.  (This trip is not intended for beginners.)  Put in at Claire’s Landing near the Auburn Town Hall.  Registration is required by calling 603 668 2045.  Price for AARP members and a guest is $10 per person.

Learn to Kayak on Lake Massabesic

Never kayaked but would like to try?  Love nature and want to see it from a fresh perspective?  Join us for a fun, easy morning of learning the pleasures of kayaking and take a short paddle and learn about popular nesting habits.  Bring your own kayak or make arrangements with the Center.  Registration is required by calling 603 668 2045.  Price for AARP members and a guest is $10 per person.
