Celebrating Hispanic and South Asian Communities

AARP New Jersey will join the state’s Hispanic and South Asian communities in celebrating their heritage this fall with a mix of in- person and virtual events.

National Hispanic Heritage Month runs from Friday, Sept. 15, to Sunday, Oct. 15. The Hindu holiday of Navratri, a festival dedicated to the Hindu deity Durga, begins Oct. 15 and ends nine days later. Diwali, the festival of lights and India’s biggest holiday of the year, is on Sunday, Nov. 12.

Visit aarp.org/celebratenj to find specific activities and to sign up. Last year’s events included virtual Latin American and Diwali cooking classes, as well as Zumba classes with a Latin or Bollywood spin.
