This year, AARP New Jersey helped put money back in your pocket by fighting to lower prescription drug prices and fighting to expand property tax relief. We also helped you get healthy and stay healthy and helped you protect yourself and your loved ones from fraud.
Here are some highlights by the numbers:
We delivered more than 600 caregiver stories to the Governor, Senate President and Assembly Speaker. The stories shared details about NJ residents’ experience caring for older loved ones. | |
Governor Murphy enacted landmark legislation to implement a new property tax relief program, StayNJ. The program, which will go into effect in 2026, is estimated to reduce property taxes for 400,000 New Jerseyans. | |
A new law that AARP NJ supported will set maximum out-of-pocket costs per month for insulin at $35, epi-pens at $25, and asthma inhalers at $50. | |
Nearly 150 attended our in-person Fraud Prevention Summit. Our annual Summit took place for the first time in-person since 2019. | |
For the first time, we attended and shared resources on fraud prevention at two Rutgers Football games and attended and shared resources on Social Security at five Seton Hall Men’s Basketball games. | |
Nearly 3,000 people participated in our virtual healthy living series. | |
More than 700 people registered for our virtual, statewide Speakers Bureau presentation, “Social Security: Understanding Your Benefits.” | |
We had 27,000 participants in total during our six telephone town halls this year. | |
Our Fraud Facebook Lives had more than 11,000 views. | |
Our Speakers Bureau volunteers delivered more than 250 presentations across the state. |
