AARP NJ Candidate Webinar: The Power of New Jersey's 50+ Voters

AARP New Jersey hosted a free webinar for all New Jersey State Senate and State Assembly candidates and staff on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, to discuss the power of voters 50+ in New Jersey and AARP New Jersey's advocacy priorities.

Election turnout in New Jersey has traditionally been highest among the state’s voters age 50 and older. During the 2022 midterm election, more than 66 percent of New Jerseyans age 65 and older voted, with 58 percent of voters between the ages of 45-64 going to the polls. That compares to 31 percent of those ages 18-24 and 29 percent of those 25-34.

I think the most important thing to know about how older voters vote is that they do vote. - Evelyn Liebman, AARP NJ Director of Advocacy.

There are AARP members in every New Jersey legislative district with a total of 1 million AARP members statewide. The webinar, which you can view above, is an opportunity to better understand the power of the 50+ voter, issues important to the 50+ voter, and learn about AARP New Jersey's advocacy priorities.
