AARP is hosting free in-person events this month to educate North Dakotans about how to get the most from Social Security.

With more than 17 percent of North Dakota residents receiving Social Security benefits and ten percent of beneficiaries receiving spousal benefits, Social Security is an important piece of the retirement puzzle for many North Dakotans.

Social Security is a core part of the retirement income of most Americans. How much can you count on receiving?

In June 2023, the City of Mandan, in partnership with AARP of North Dakota, launched Art on a Box, a community-driven public art project that enhances the visual landscape of downtown Mandan.

Social Security is your money — you earned it through a lifetime of hard work. And like most Americans, that money is needed to help cover living expenses and pay bills. Nearly one in six North Dakota residents – 138,461people – receive Social Security benefits, and 44 percent of residents 65 and older rely on the program for at least half of their income.[

Thanks in part to significant support by AARP members and advocates, the City of Bismarck and the City of Mandan will invest in BisMan Transit's paratransit service ensuring the continuation of safe, reliable and affordable transportation for those with disabilities and/or over 70 years old.

AARP North Dakota has skilled volunteers available to provide presentations throughout the state.

Community Challenge grants fund projects from community garden to self service grocery options in towns and cities across North Dakota.
