AARP Ohio Lauds Passage of Bill Targeting Robocall Schemes

helpline

AARP Ohio has a long history of fighting for protections for older Americans through our Fraud Watch Network, which is a nationwide program focused on empowering consumers to protect themselves, their family and their communities from fraud and scams.

AARP Ohio endorsed Senate Bill 54 which makes Ohio a leader in combating robocall schemes. We are particularly pleased that the bill strengthens the penalties when the victim is an older person or disabled adult.

We’d also like to acknowledge Attorney General Dave Yost for his work on this issue and his support of the bill. We have had the privilege of working with Attorney General Yost to educate AARP members on fraud and scams and believe this bill is a significant progress in protecting Ohioans from financial exploitation, particularly those 50-plus who are often the targets of such scams.
