AARP Ohio shows that Pride is Ageless

AARP Ohio...your PRIDE was showing!  Columbus PRIDE took place the weekend of June 16th and 17th with attendance estimated at over 500,000! AARP Ohio was proud to sponsor the Trailblazer Lounge for Stonewall Columbus’ Central Ohio Group for LGBTQA Adults 50+. Volunteers visited the lounge throughout the weekend to share information and talk about AARP’s commitment to the LGBT community and how we can work together in the future.

In addition to the lounge, volunteers staffed a booth where we talked to festival goers about the recently enacted Ohio Caregiving Act and tested their knowledge on caregiving. We shared the Prepare to Care guide for family caregivers in the LGBT community which addresses some unique nuances to be aware of. Our volunteers came from all over the state - in fact the entire Friday night team made the trip from southwest Ohio! It certainly wasn't all work; we had a tremendous amount of fun and made a lot of new friends.

AARP is committed to LGBTQA community and values our membership as vital to the organization. A sincere invitation goes out to anyone interested in becoming a volunteer. We welcome one and all to join our ranks as AARP Ohio volunteers. And keep an eye out for us at the Dayton LGBT Film Festival in October.
