Intersection Superheroes We are looking for 20 AARP member volunteers for this position. Volunteer will work in pairs at intersections to help neighbors, pedestrians and other participants along the route. AARP Sunday Parkways volunteers would be doing their “intersection hero” shifts in pairs with other AARP volunteers and in a designated “AARP” stretch of the Parkways.

AARP Booth Volunteers We are looking for about 4 folks who would “man” our booth at the Parkways, engage the public by providing information about AARP, livable and age-friendly communities issues, and generally interact through fun education game. Outgoing personality and ability to stand for stretches necessary.

Intergenerational Walkers/roller and Group Leader We are looking for about 4 local neighborhood volunteers who are interested leading intergenerational walk/roll at each of the parkways or simply in participating in one. This is a fun way to experience the parkways and explore Portland streets and neighborhoods with other walkers rollers of all generations. The coordinators would helping plan the walk and recruit walkers/rollers and work with fellow volunteers.

Volunteer Coordinators We are looking for 3 or more volunteer who will coordinate other volunteers and working closely with staff to fill all the volunteer shifts, follow up with prospective volunteer and train and orient volunteers.

Commitment required:  2 to 4 hours on one or any number of the 5 parkways.  More hours will be required for group leaders and coordinators.

Portland Sunday Parkways Dates: East Portland - May 12, Northeast Portland - June 23, North Portland - July 28, Southeast Portland - Aug 25 and Southwest Portland - Sept 29

All volunteers will get the training they require to fulfill their role, plus get a t-shirt, water/snack, etc.  Email us at oraarp@aarp.org to apply and find out about the next orientation.
