Harrisburg, PA - Romance scams are more prevalent than ever, and they target individuals of all backgrounds and ages.

AARP strongly supports proposals that provide equitable, cost-effective, and targeted property tax relief to those most burdened by their property tax bills. More Pennsylvanians will receive help through the Commonwealth’s Property Tax Rent Rebate Program, which delivers relief for age and income eligible homeowners and renters.

Can you afford to pay Pennsylvania American Water over $300 more per year for your water and wastewater? You can raise your voice to oppose these proposed rate increases. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will hold public hearings - eight in-person and four virtual - to hear from you about PAW’s proposals. If you are a Pennsylvania American Water Company water and/or wastewater customer who could be affected by this rate hike, we strongly encourage you to participate in an in-person hearing closest to you or choose to participate in a virtual/telephonic hearing to voice your opposition.

Fraud criminals use all sorts of pitches to claim to help you become debt-free. These offers usually involve up-front fees, bad advice like stopping communication with your creditors and vague details on what services they actually provide.

AARP Community Challenge grants fund quick-action projects that help communities become more livable by improving public places, transportation, housing, digital connections, and more. Instead of making one pledge this New Year make a resolution to remember these three words: stop, think and verify.

In a significant step forward for the well-being and rights of older Pennsylvanians, Governor Josh Shapiro recently signed into law three key pieces of legislation supported by AARP Pennsylvania.

“On behalf of our 1.8 million members and all Pennsylvanians 50-plus, AARP Pennsylvania is opposed to the PAWC’s rate adjustment request recently filed with the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC). On average, the PAWC proposal would raise water rates for residential customers by at least 25 percent. If approved, charges to the customer could increase by about $17.59 each month -- or $211 a year..."
