AARP PA Out for Outfest and Activities in Gayborhood

At AARP, we are engaging with the community in new and surprising ways. If you’ve been out and about in Philadelphia, chances are that you have seen us at street festivals, city council meetings, or hosting events. But did you know that we are going to be in the LGBT community even more than ever before?

Starting on September 26, we will be partnering with SAGE (Services and Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgender Elders) to host a LGBT mixer at Lucha Cartel. We will be in the Gayborhood talking about caregiving as a teaser event for the following month’s LGBT festivities, you can register here.

October 9 kicks off Philadelphia’s largest LGBT event of the year, Outfest. This event is the 26 ^th Annual celebration for National Coming-Out Day all over the world and AARP is going to be taking part in the fun! For this event, we will be partnering with SAGE to spread awareness about AARP and Caregiving for members of the LGBT community.

A month after this event, we will also be participating at the 2016 LGBT Aging Summit in Philadelphia. The conference will bring together aging services providers, policy makers, healthcare providers, and community leaders to develop strategies designed to improve services available to LGBT individuals as they age.
