Responding to the AARP Bulletin Call for Volunteers?

ACA Volunteers

Beginning October 1 a new website known as the Hawaii Health Connector will allow residents across the state to shop for health insurance. The development of the online marketplace is a milestone in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, enacted by Congress in 2010.

While most Hawaii workers and their families and get their health insurance coverage through their place of employment, about eight percent of the state’s population – as many as 100,000 people – are uninsured.

AARP Hawaii is looking for volunteers to help spread the word about the new marketplace among people who lack health coverage – including about one in ten residents ages 50-to-64, small-business owners and part-time workers.

To hear more about AARP’s health care outreach and meet with other volunteers interested in taking part in this effort, check the schedule and register for the meet-up of your choice on Oahu in May or June.

To speak with someone at AARP Hawaii call 808-545-6003.
