AARP Rhode Island is raising awareness of the benefits of ADUs, making it easier to permit units and expanding the state's age-friendly, accessible, and affordable housing.
The Telly Awards has announced the AARP Rhode Island senior hunger series Hungry in the West End is a Bronze winner in its 35th annual competition. With nearly 12,000 entries from all 50 states and numerous countries, this is truly an honor.
In April 16 testimony before the House Finance Committee, AARPRI Advocacy Director Deanna Casey and volunteer Gerald McAvoy tell lawmakers that many trapped in the cycle of payday loans are Rhode Island senior citizens. They represent, Casey added, "a growing and significant share." Payday lenders target Social Security, disability and veterans benefits.
