Summer means another opportunity to help get Rhode Island school children of to a great start of the school year. The annual Back to School Celebration -- now in its 15th year -- provides new backpacks filled with school supplies and nutritional information to some 15,000 students. The effort not only encourages learning, but helps families that struggle with back-to-school purchases.

The César Estrada Chávez Committee of Rhode Island honors AARP Rhode Island Associate State Director - Outreach Deborah Miller with the 2013 Cesar Chavez Award. She will be honored at State House ceremonies on Friday, March 29.

PROVIDENCE – AARP Rhode Island State Director Kathleen Connell today announced the appointment of Alan B. Neville as State President.

This series attempts to put a face on the problem of senior hunger in the West End and throughout America, and to give voice to those who are responding to the challenge of feeding the hungry.
