The 2013 National Senior Games are coming to Cleveland on July 19 through August 1 and AARP Ohio is encouraging members to volunteer to assist athletes and welcome visitors to enjoy the games and the city.

Organizers report Cleveland will host more than 10,000 athletes ages 50 and over who will compete in 19 different sports. They expect even more visitors, making the 2013 National Senior Games the largest single visitor event Cleveland has hosted in a decade.

Volunteer opportunities include keeping score and clock operating for basketball, helping at Track and Field, and greeting guests at The Olympic Village sponsored by AstraZeneca, which is located in the brand new Cleveland Convention Center. All volunteers will receive 2013 National Senior Games volunteer apparel, hospitality throughout their shifts and the opportunity to purchase a discounted 4-day RTA Flex Pass.

You can learn more about assisting with 2013 National Senior Games in Cleveland and register to volunteer online. If you have a group interested in volunteering, please email Lauren Grys of the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at lgrys@clevelandsports.org or call 216-479-6361.
