Results of the 2023 AARP Livability Index Release with South Dakota Rankings

Five South Dakota localities received 2023 AARP Community Challenge grants for improvement projects. The efforts will include:

AARP South Dakota is thrilled to announce that five organizations throughout the state have received 2023 Community Challenge grants – part of the largest group of grantees to date with $3.6 million awarded among 310 organizations nationwide.

Commmunity Challenge Grant Applications Are Now Open

The AARP Community Challenge grant program funded four improvement projects in South Dakota this year.

Four South Dakota communities recently received AARP Community Challenge Grants for quick-action livability projects.

America Walks and AARP South Dakota invite advocates for walkable, more livable communities in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa & Nebraska to apply for a six-month Fellowship with the Central Region Walking College by April 15.

Applications are currently being accepted through March 22, 2022, 5:00 p.m. ET.

The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is a $1.9 trillion law that includes $350 billion in direct, flexible aid to states, counties, cities, and tribal governments and represents a once in a generation chance for local leaders to engage residents and make investments that can strengthen communities so they are great places for all. As part of AARP’s efforts to connect older adults and local leaders on these investments, AARP has been hosting tele town halls with local leaders across the country.
