Join AARP Texas as we proudly celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! This annual observance is a time to recognize and honor the rich histories, vibrant cultures, and countless contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities whose roots trace back to Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Throughout the month, AARP Texas will host a dynamic lineup of events and activities across the state—highlighting the diversity, resilience, and cultural pride that shape our Hispanic heritage here in Texas.

Rodriguez assumes leadership of AARP Texas on Sept. 15 to work on behalf of AARP's 2.5 million Texas members. She will lead staff in Austin, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio and more than 400 volunteers statewide.
With nearly 2.5 million members in Texas, AARP Texas strengthens communities and advocates for what matters most to older Texans and their families, including health security, financial stability and personal fulfillment.

Aletha is one of more than 3.4 million Texans who perform a great labor of love: caring for aging parents, spouses, and other loved ones so they can remain in their homes. These family caregivers are sometimes on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week – and often they can’t even take a break. But they wouldn’t have it any other way.
AARP Texas is seeking applicants for our next state president, a high-level volunteer position.
Austin enjoys a reputation as a young city. It’s also among the fastest-growing areas for people 55 and older. City leaders are taking the growth trend seriously. On Thursday, the Austin City Council approved a plan to help people “age in place.”
AARP Texas has announced its top priorities and funding requests for the 2023 legislative session. The priorities aim to help Texas face the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly aging population.
AARP is seeking nominations to honor reporters whose work promotes awareness and understanding of older Texans and the issues that affect them.
On the Fourth of July, Sidney Williams of Brownsville sliced his hand while opening a vase. He needed urgent medical treatment. So, he visited a nearby emergency clinic after a friend called ahead to see if the clinic would accept his insurance.
