You're invited to take part in shaping the county's age-friendly agenda!
If you live in The Berkshires, you'll want to lend your voice to an exciting new chapter in the area's history by taking part in the upcoming Berkshire County Age-Friendly Vision 2020 Summit!
Berkshire County has been accepted into the AARP/ World Health Organization (WHO) Network of Age Friendly Communities. This means that county residents have a chance to help shape issues such as housing, transportation, access to health care, and more to make the communities in Berkshire County as age-friendly and livable as possible.
As part of the AARP/ World Health Organization (WHO) Network of Age Friendly Communities, the cities and towns in Berkshire County will benefit from national and global AARP research, models, and best practices, all to help adults 50+ remain active, healthy, and engaged in their communities for as long as possible.
To get things started, the Berkshire County Age-Friendly Vision 2020 Task Force is hosting the Age-Friendly Vision 2020 Summit on Monday, June 1, from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Pittsfield. At the summit, AARP Massachusetts State Director Mike Festa will officially welcome Berkshire County into the network, and results from the county-wide Age-Friendly Survey will also be presented and discussed.
Please join your fellow county residents and local leaders by helping determine the next steps, and take part in the Age-Friendly process!
