"The Graying of AIDS": A Personal Story

Ron Swanda in Bike Lane at 6th & E Sts, NW #1-resized
Ron Swanda, AARP DC volunteer

Ron Swanda, is a busy AARP District of Columbia volunteer. He is a member of the State Office Executive Council, a member of the AARP DC Advocacy Team (A-Team), and he is on Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Age-Friendly DC Task Force. An avid cyclist, it's not uncommon to see Ron, a Ward 6 District resident, arrive at his appointments on his bike.

For World AIDS Day, Ron shared his personal story about aging and being HIV-positive with a commentary posted on the website The Graying of AIDS. Ron’s story is one of self-awareness with an objective of helping others understand another view of aging. Read Ron Swanda's Graying of AIDS commentary.  In addition to Ron’s story, read the stories about other older people who are HIV-positive on The Graying of AIDS website.
