AARP, Ten Sleepless Knights and Guardians of Culture “Moko Jumbies” presents A Cultural Showcase on St. John, US Virgin Islands.
Join AARP for a showcase of culture, folklore, and history of the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the first time, St. John, is more than just entertainment – it’s an opportunity to pass down traditions to future generations.
Come out and explore the origins and evolution of Quelbe music, the national music of the U.S. Virgin Islands, with Quelbe Ambassadors Stanley Jacobs and his legendary Ten Sleepless Knights, whose mastery of Quelbe will offer an unforgettable experience that celebrates the genre’s deep roots in Virgin Islands culture.
The day will move on to showcase the art form – Moko Jumbies – with an evening of “edutainment” with Mokolution – the evolution of the Moko Jumbies presented by the Guardians of Culture Moko Jumbies. The event will be narrated by its created and founder, Willard John. He will narrate the history and development of the Moko Jumbie – its roots and origin in Africa: where it came from, how they started, and how they danced.
