AARP, Ten Sleepless Knights and Guardians of Culture “Moko Jumbies” - Together on March 29th!

AARP, Stanley & the Ten Sleepless Knights, and Guardians of Culture presents A Cultural Showcase in The Park, St. John US Virgin Islands.

Join us on Saturday, March 29th from 2-4pm in Franklin A. Powell, Sr. Park, St. John US Virgin Islands. Step out with AARP for a showcase of culture, folklore, and history of the U.S. Virgin Islands. For the first time, St. John, is more than just entertainment – it’s an opportunity to pass down traditions to future generations.

Come out and explore the origins and evolution of Quelbe music, the national music of the U.S. Virgin Islands, with Quelbe Ambassadors the legendary Stanley Jacobs and the Ten Sleepless Knights, whose mastery of Quelbe will offer an unforgettable experience that celebrates the genre’s deep roots in Virgin Islands culture.

The day will move on to showcase the art form – Moko Jumbies – with an afternoon of “edutainment” with Mokolution – the evolution of the Moko Jumbies presented by the Guardians of Culture Moko Jumbies. The event will be narrated by its created and founder, Willard John. He will narrate the history and development of the Moko Jumbie – its roots and origin in Africa: where it came from, how they started, and how they danced.
