Join this FREE event on July 12, 2018, from 8:30am to 3:00pm, at First Baptist Church on Monument Avenue for a day filled with resources on how to be a savvy and safe senior, living independently. Participants will meet with local officials, learn from experts, attend workshops, visit sponsor and vendor tables, and network with others from across the region and the Commonwealth. They can bring up to 3 bags of documents for shredding to the Robinson Street Parking Lot before you take our shuttle to check in for Senior Safety Day. This is a conference for seniors on safety. First Baptist Church opens at 8:30am.
The first presentation starts at 9:30am. For the 10:30 am workshops, participants can choose a topic; 10:30 am workshops include: Smart Emergency Planning, Budgeting and Money Management, Decluttering for Safety, Dominion Energy Assistance and Senior Safety, Driver Safety, Financial Safety-- Investments, Food and Cooking Safety, Home Safety- In and Out, Insurance Planning, Protecting Yourself-- Personal Safety, Scams, Frauds and Identity Theft, Seniors and On-Line Dating/Romance Scams, Senior Domestic Abuse, and Travel Safety.
One of the following workshops can be chosen between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm: Impacts of Prescriptions and Alcohol on Older Adults, Mobility Devices and Your Safety, Documents that Protect, Preventing Falls, Respect Richmond Initiative, and Keeping our Medicare Dollars Safe. Between 11:30am and 1:30pm, they will serve lunch in two seatings. Some will attend workshops first while others will do lunch first. All will enjoy a lovely box lunch prepared by the First Baptist Church. At 1:30pm, participants can choose either a presentation on Transportation or Caregiver Safety. Drawings will close the event. Everyone should prepare to have fun!
