AARP Pressures States while Senate Returns to Washington

Capture

The U.S. Senate is back in Washington following Independence Day to discuss a proposed health care bill that would spell higher costs and less coverage for many Virginians.

In response, AARP has released a set of new TV and radio ads urging five Senators to oppose this bill: Shelley Moore Capito (W-VA), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Cory Gardner (CO) Dean Heller (Nevada) and Rob Portman (Ohio) are the individuals constituents need to contact concerning these proposed higher costs.

"Virginia's Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine have said publicly that they oppose this bill," said AARP Virginia State Director Jim Dau. "We urge them to stay strong as they protect the ability of all Virginians to get and stay healthy."

The ad urges Senators to "Vote NO," stating "At the end of the month, there isn't much [money] left. That's why the Senate's health care bill is so devastating. You'll spend even more on premiums . . . Pay more for prescriptions . . . Your family's coverage could even be taken away."

The ad can be seen  here.
