AARP Virginia Clarifies It Does Not Endorse Candidates, or Make Contributions to Political Campaigns or Candidates

RICHMONDAARP Virginia State Director Jim Dau released the following statement today in response to House Majority Forward’s citation of AARP in political advertisements supporting Rep. Elaine Luria and Rep. Abigail Spanberger:

“AARP did not authorize or participate in the production of the advertisement regarding Reps. Luria and Spanberger. AARP has a proud 34-year history of non-partisan voter engagement and does not endorse or oppose candidates, nor does AARP make contributions to political campaigns or candidates. We encourage Virginians to ask questions so they understand where the candidates stand on important issues and make their own decisions on Election Day.”

With more than 1 million members in Virginia, AARP is the largest organization working on behalf of people age 50+ and their families in the Commonwealth.
