AARP Virginia offers two days of fun for grandparents and grandchildren: Game night, music and art are scheduled

VIRGINIA BEACH — Grandparents looking for something to do with the grandkids need to look no further than Bayside Recreation Center on Sept. 8 and 9 when AARP Virginia is sponsoring activities for all ages. 

Grandparents and their grandchildren can play board games together at a community event on Friday evening. On Saturday afternoon they can enjoy art and activities, featuring music and origami. 

From 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, AARP is hosting Reach Out and Play Board Game Night at Bayside Recreation Center, 4500 First Court Road, Virginia Beach. Participants will play the classic games they grew up with at this community board game event. Everyone is welcome.

AARP is the proud sponsor of Ageless Innovation's Reach Out and Play initiative, for an evening of play with classic board games—reimagined. Attendees can have fun through the power of play with Joy for All™ games like, The Game of Life Generations, Scrabble Bingo, and Trivial Pursuit Generations. Area residents can bring family and friends and create meaningful social connections together through the power of play.

Registration is FREE, but you must register to attend. Space is first come, first served. These redesigned classic board games include new features such as easy-to-grasp game pieces, increased font size, and trivia that cater to players across generations.

Grandparents Day of Art and Activity will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Bayside Recreation Center, 4500 First Court Road, Virginia Beach. AARP Virginia and Tidewater Arts Outreach will host a day of music and art. Rich Gray Paper Arts will teach the kiddos the art of origami while Paul Dickson and Adrienne Searle provide tunes for the grownups!

Individuals and families are welcome to take part in this event which offers multigenerational fun and entertainment. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy music from throughout recent decades while arts and crafts will be offered to children ages 10 and up.
