Bob Blancato, AARP Virginia State President, will speak on legislation that affects healthy aging at The ABC’s and Ds of Aging Conference on April 10. The purpose of the conference is to educate older adults about the components of healthy aging and to empower them to take action to live healthy lives.
“Staying healthy, aging well and having a good quality of life are important to Virginians as we grow older,” Blancato said. “Lawmakers have the ability to enhance the quality of life for Virginians as we age.”
The public is invited to this free health and well-being conference sponsored by AARP Virginia and the Hampton Roads Coalition of Agencies. The conference is from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at the King of Glory Lutheran Church and School, 4897 Longhill Road, Williamsburg.
People age 50+ from across Hampton Roads will gather at this free event to learn smart strategies for healthy aging. There will be various activities through-out the event with hands-on exhibits, door prizes, prescription medication, consultations and free blood pressure checks. Seminar topics will include:
- Legislation that Affects Healthy Aging
- Fitness and Balance
- Cooking Demonstration
- How to Talk to Your Doctor
- Dental Health
- Safe Driving
